I'm currently using rs485 to send a message to the teltonika unit which will be encoded in Codec 12 and sent to an external server via UDP but the IMEI is not included.

I can achieve this with TCP automatically as the IMEI is sent when the client is connected to the server but when i use UDP no IMEI is sent.

The question i'm asking is built from this question linked below and follows the same setup but uses RS485 rather than RS232 and it uses the teltonika device FMC125

In the Codec 12 docs, it states that the IMEI is sent when establishing the link with the server. When testing this using UDP no IMEI is sent. Could you please provide some clarity why i am unable to receive the IMEI when using UDP when sending a codec 12 message.

When using UDP for sending a codec 12 message, it is not possible to receive the IMEI. According to the wiki, the recommended mode for using codec 12 is TCP.
