Hi Team,

I had issues with my 10 years old notebook bluetooth adapter that was disconnecting in crowded environment from Teltonika devices and I decided to move to an external USB Bluetooth 5.0 dongle, but both most popular on the market dongles (TP-Link UB500 and ASUS USB-BT500) failed to work with Teltonika Configurator.

My enviroment and test procedures:

  • Two Windows 10 PC with different embedded Bluetooth 4.0 modules. Latest version of Teltonika Configurator works fine with FMB-920 running latest firwmare. It also works find via USB cable
  • Before testing USB dongles I disabled interal Bluetooth interface in BIOS settings of PCs. With both USB dongles PCs can find FMB-920 and after entering PIN successfuly pair to it
  • But Teltonika Configurator fails to find FMB-920 when external USB Bluetooth dongle is connected. I kept it running for 5 minutes and noticed in Windows Settings that time to time PC connects to FMB-920 (state changes from paired to connected) but still Teltonika Configurator doesn't show any device available

I checked the specifications of USB dongles and both have compatibility with Bluetooth 4.0 and 3.0 standards. Plus I have no error messages when Windows pairing is established.

What could be a cause for Teltonika configurator to fail to work with USB Bluetooth dongles?

1. please try to install the FMB pc driver https://teltonika-gps.com/product/fmb920/#downloads you can download it from this link 

2. also have to install the .NET framework, please follow the link https://wiki.teltonika-gps.com/view/.NET_Runtime_for_Desktop_installation

Both steps were completed before I started to try USB Bluetooth dongles. Not sure whether whether COM driver has something to do when you connect via Bluetooth, but anyway it was installed. And Configurator refuses to launch if .NET Runtime is not installed on the PC, so I had to install it too.

Thank you, I know this. The point is that Configurator works with internal bluetooth 4.0 adapter and does not work with external USB Bluetooth 5.0 adapters.

In my case device firmware version is 03.27.13.Rev.03 and configurator version is 1.7.30_B.3.27_R.29
