Hello,

We are in the process of obtaining a FMM640 for testing purposes on our vehicle. I had a look through the available manuals online and I would like to know how we can go about logging specific CAN messages on the CANBUS.

The CAN messages we are interested in are mainly 11-bit and are proprietary (so not J1939 standard PGN/SPNs). How is this configured in the Manual CAN IO? There is provision to configure "Standard (11-bit)" but the CAN ID still expects a 4-byte number but we want to set a 11-bit CAN ID.

Thank you!

Dear peter,

Please select 11 bit and configure CAN ID as FFFFF6AA, I hope this will work for you.

Please let me know the result.

Thanks in advance,

Naveen

Hello.

Manual configuration is based on SAEJ1939 where CAN ID is 4 bytes long.

Please refer to Teltonika Wiki regarding Manual Can configuration:

https://wiki.teltonika-gps.com/view/FMM640_Manual_CAN_IO

Manual CAN parameters are sent in AVLs with ID 145-154, 380-389 and 10298-10358

https://wiki.teltonika-gps.com/view/FMM640_Teltonika_Data_Sending_Parameters_ID#Manual_CAN_elements

Please note that for AVLs with id above 255 codec 8 Extended must be enabled in device configuration.

Thank you for your reply, however my question was more on if the CAN message is not J1939 but proprietary, and also if the CAN-ID is 11-bit instead of the extended 29-bit.

For example we are using a motor which gives us RPM data over the CAN bus in its 8-byte data field, but the CAN-ID is 11-bit (for example 0x6AA)  and is proprietary to the motor manufacturer and I would like to configure the FMM640 to recognize this CAN message, how can this be done?
