Hi here is sms feedback about my lv can 
Prog:0 SWDate:000000 SWRev:0 KernVer:0 Opt:0 ST:0x00 ID:0x0000000000000000  

Does it mean there is no communication between lv can and fmb640 or is this accurate data about the LVCAN?

If it is accurate, how do I update the SW DAte

Hello

That's exactly right.

This means that there is no proper connection between the LVCAN adapter and the FMB640 device

Verify this manual, reconnect and check please

I checked the connection again and the mini usb seems to be perfect.
However what i see is that when the ignition is on the LED of can converter flashes once the it goes of and stays off.. Should the LED permanently be on?

I test that
PIN 1 IS 12V

PIN2  Yellow wire of can apdapter 

 PIN 3 Blue of CAN Adapter

PIN 5 - EARH BLACK

Any idea what else can be wrong?

It looks like you swapped PIN 2 and PIN 3

destination	Pin number	Color of CAN adapter wire
+10…30V DC	1
TX	2	blue
RX	3	yellow
	4
GND	5	black

Hi it seems that someone gave me the wrong pinout advice in another comment .

This is what they gave me  

CAN ADAPTER PIN6 (Blue wire) (RX) -> RX USB cable (Green wire) MINI USB PIN 3.

CAN ADAPTER PIN5 (Yellow wire) (TX) -> TX USB cable (White wire) MINI USB PIN 2.

CAN ADAPTER PIN4 (Black wire) (Ground).

I switched the wires and still get no communication..

should lv can LED stay on or is it normal to go of?

Hi as in the video you send me I connected the red can converter wire to 12v and the black to earth

Blue and yellow is connected to mini usb because I use fmb640

I cannot follow the can config of this video cause fmb640 works different

In the video with simple can I see the LED stays on until button is pressed.  Mine does not react that way - with my lv can the light comes on and then goes off after 2 seconds.

Why would this be ?
