GPS fix can be acquired quite fast when there are more satellites available in the area. Usually the reason why it cannot be acquired effectively is due to no visible satellites or multiple story buildings where signal transfer is suppressed. If you have your device in the building and GPS fix is not activating, try taking the device outside where signal coverage would be much higher. Or if you are in the vehicle, try resting the device (antenna facing the sky) on the front panel of the vehicle.
