I have some proprietary CAN sensors that are not linked to the vehicles CAN -

I'm wanting to use a Teltonika FMB640 to read these sensors exclusively -

1. Do I need a CAN 300 adapter to do this - or is there another alternative?

2. If the CAN 300 is required - I presume I can configure to pick up my sensor data (that is not listed in the list of supported CAN list of vehicles / devices?

Thanks

Hi,

For your used case, FMB640 is enough to fetch the data from these sensors.

You need to configure the sensor PGNs in the manual CAN section of the FMB640.

If you use the manual CAN, you need to decode the hex bytes which received in Manual CAN AVL IDs in the server according to your sensor CAN parameter mapping document.

Thanks in advance,

Naveen

Thank you - that simplifies our solution.

With this scenario in mind - is it possible also using just the 640 to send a CAN command (basically to wake the sensor up on power up) ?

Hi,

We don't have an option to send command to CAN bus.
